Abstract
Monoclonal antibodies to porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) were tested using ELISA, Western blot analysis, and immunoperoxidase test. As demonstr ated by ELISA, the antibodies were free of cross reactivity with transmissi ble gastroenteritis virus and Group A rotaviruses. Their specificity was fu rther confirmed by an indirect immunoperoxidase test for the demonstration of PEDV in infected cell lines and intestinal enterocytes of experimentally infected piglets. Possible use of the monoclonal antibodies in the diagnos tics of PEDV infections in swine herds is discussed.
