Shrews of two western regions of Pskov district and their chromosome diagnoses (Sorex, Soricidae, Insectivora)

Chromosome sets of two shrew species from two western regions of Pskov dist rict were studied. Common distribution of S. isodon and S. araneus is revea led karyologically in the vicinity of Anninskoye Lake (Sebezh region, Pskov district). The specimens of the latter species found in two localities (no rthwestern and southwestern Pskov district) belong to a Finnish karyologica l group marked with "ip" arm combination. Identification of the new chromos ome race "Pskov" is based on such fusions as gm, hk, nr, oq.
