The formation and specific features of the spatial resolution of passive lo
cation are considered. The difference between the longitudinal and transver
se resolutions achieved with the receivers arranged in a single plane is ex
plained on geometrical grounds. Results of an experimental study of the spa
tial resolution of the correlation location are presented. The results are
found to be in a quantitative agreement with the theoretical predictions. T
he experimental point-spread function closely approaches the function obtai
ned from mathematical simulations.
