We demonstrate that for symmetric dynamical systems with an invariant
subspace in which there is a chaotic attractor, synchronism between th
e transverse subsystem and its replica can be achieved in wide paramet
er regimes. The synchronism occurs in situations where the interaction
between the invariant subsystem and the transverse subsystem can be e
ither unidirectional or bidirectional, and the full system can possess
more than one positive Lyapunov exponent. The idea is illustrated by
a numerical example.
