Traditionally, imaging of the abdomen in children has been performed b
y plain film radiography and barium contrast studies. Ln many clinical
situations, this approach has been modified or replaced by ultrasound
examination. A review of imaging of the infant with vomiting with an
emphasis on malrotation and hypertrophic pyloric stenosis and the inve
stigation of children with suspected intussusception is used to illust
rate controversies and evolving strategies for imaging in children.
