R. Ohmukai et al., ISOTOPE-SELECTED MEASUREMENTS OF THE VELOCITY-CONTROLLED YB ATOMIC-BEAM, Applied physics. B, Lasers and optics, 64(5), 1997, pp. 547-551
We performed isotope-selected velocity distribution measurements of th
e Yb atomic beam by a technique based on the optical double resonance
spectroscopy. The S-1(0) --> P-1(1) and P-1(1) --> D-1(2) transitions
were employed in this scheme. This method enabled precise measurement
of the velocity distribution with the isotope selection and a higher r
esolution than our previous measurements using only the S-1(0) --> P-1
(1) transition. This technique was applied to the measurement of the Y
b atomic beam whose velocity distribution was optically perturbed and
compressed by radiation pressure.
