Abstract
The film theory was used to determine the mass transfer coefficient for the cross-flow filtration of guar gum solutions. We investigated:their variati on with cross-flow velocity and concentration, Comparing the experimental r esults with the Sherwood correlation generalized for power law fluids and w ith two models found in the literature led to the evaluation of an effectiv e diffusion coefficient for each model. This parameter was shown to depend on cross-flow velocity and concentration.
