Balance equations for the density, momentum and energy of a dense plas
ma are derived on the basis of quantum kinetic theory. The influence o
f many-body effects on ionization/recombination reactions, diffusion a
nd thermal conductivity are discussed. It is shown that (microscopic)
many-particle effects lead to nonlinear macroscopic relaxation behavio
ur. For illustration, we solve the coupled density-temperature balance
equations for a dense partially ionized hydrogen plasma.
