Flowsheet simulation of soil-washing processes

Application of flowsheet simulation systems is not common in solids process ing. Commercially available flowsheet simulation systems have usually a str ong focus on fluid processes and just a few solids handling features. Speci al requirements for solids processing are identified and taken into conside ration during development and implementation of an appropriate flowsheet si mulation system. The features of the prototype simulator SolidSim are prese nted. Applications to soil-washing - a process for remediation of contamina ted soils - demonstrate the usefulness of the simulator in plant design, pl ant adaptations and related tasks for complex solids processes.
