Abstract
Transient third-order optical nonlinearity chi((3)) Of ZnO microcrystallite thin films is measured at various temperatures by using femtosecond degene rate four-wave-mixing. Room-temperature excitonic enhancement of chi((3)) i s observed. The magnitude of chi((3)) ranges between 10(-4) to 10(-6) esu f rom 4.2 K to room temperature, The measured chi(3) response time ranging fr om 200 to 300 fs is ultrafast for temperature down to 4.2 K.
