Abstract
Electrooxidation of (E)-1-phenyl-2-(phenylthio)ethylene and 1-phenyl-2-(phe nylthia)acetylene on glassy carbon electrode in acetonitrile medium results in the formation of the corresponding sulphones chemoselectively, leaving the unsaturated linkages intact. These results are in contrast to the elect rooxidation at platinum electrode wherein the scission of the C-S bond of t hese sulphides also occurs affording different products.
