Abstract
The pale yellow crystals of fulgides 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d and 5e in crystalline s tate and in solutions, change to red on irradiation at 366nm, this change i s reversed on exposure to white light. The substituents on the methylene gr oup have a remarkable effect on the absorption maxima of both the coloured and uncoloured forms.
