Four different types of 1/f time series are generated by computer simulatio
ns and the analyses of their fractal characteristics are carried out. The n
umerical evaluation shows that the differences in the generation mechanism
results in a 1/f time series having different fractal structures. The 1/f r
esistance fluctuation of a carbon fiber is observed and its fractal propert
y is analyzed in comparison with that of computer-generated 1/f fluctuation
s. It is found that the fractal property of the resistance fluctuation is t
he same as that of the fluctuation generated by 1/2-order integration of wh
ile noise.
