Levator claviculae muscle presenting as a neck mass: CT imaging

We describe the imaging and clinical features of a patient presenting with a posterior cervical space mass. The only abnormality identified on CT was a variant muscle, the levator claviculae. Radiologists are cautioned to be familiar with this muscle and its appearance to avoid misdiagnosing it as p athologic.
