Abstract
Rotogravure has been investigated as a novel route for the mass production of single-use carbon electrodes. This technique, well established in the pr inting industry, allows the fast and continuous fabrication of electrodes. Highly reproducible carbon electrodes for the deposition of thin mercury fi lms were produced using an optimised carbon ink/isophorone mixture (75/25 w /w) associated with an appropriate thermal curing (3 h at 70 degrees C). Th e use of a thin layer flow cell has permitted the determination of cadmium (II) and lead (II) at the mu g l(-1) level in 120 s. (C) 1999 Elsevier Scie nce S.A. All rights reserved.
