AUTOLOGOUS BLOOD DONATION AT THE OTTO-VON GUERICKE-CLINIC OF THE UNIVERSITY-OF-MAGDEBURG - ORGANIZATION AND IMPLEMENTATION

In context with the reorganization of transfusion medicine at the univ ersity of Magdeburg a renewal of the autologous blood donation concept has been established. Several papers including information for physic ians and patients as well as a risk score to detect high-risk patients , have been developed. Further investigations will have to show whethe r the score is valid or not, but for the moment it seems to be rather helpful. A prospective study, with the aim to show in which individual case autologous blood donation is necessary or not, is still in work. Continuous information of the clinical departments about developments in transfusion medicine is a main aim of our work in autologous blood donation.
