Abstract
An alternative method for the determination of three-dimensional stresses i n photoelastic models is discussed. The model is sectioned into discrete, i maginary slices and a relationship is derived between the retardation and i soclinic angle of each slice and characteristic photoelastic parameters mea sured using a transmission polariscope. An illustration of the multi-load m ethod is given and the practical application of the technique is discussed.
