Fracture surfaces of ductile failure of two types bulk amorphous metallic a
lloys were studied using quantitative and qualitative fractographic analysi
s. The observed fractographic behaviour of ductile failure in comparison wi
th the ductile failure of amorphous alloy ribbons shows signs of the same f
ailure mechanisms. Fracture surfaces are created by a meniscus instability
process. Some observed morphological differences are explained as the influ
ence of different geometric conditions during the voids nucleation, growth,
and coalescence.
