Abstract
In-line electron holograms of Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) lying across holes in Quantifoil were recorded at 40 eV electron energy. The molecule is opaq ue at this energy and holographic reconstruction shows a projection image o f the TMV. Radiation damage at this energy is expected to be confined to a thin surface layer of the molecule. Problems with the holographic reconstru ction due to electric field inhomogeneity around the fiber are discussed. ( C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
