Abstract
A convenient and synthetically attractive protocol for the regioselective s ynthesis of homopropargyl alcohols from aldehydes and 2-propynyl halides ha ving terminal alkynes under the aegis of catalytic cupric bromide and stann ous chloride in THF is described. In- situ probing by H-1 NMR and MIKE-CID spectrum provides evidence for the copper(I)catalyzed formation of allenylt rihalostannane.
