Abstract
The reaction of tricarbonyl[eta(6)-2-chloro-1-(trifluoromethyl)benzene]chro mium with in situ generated phenylacetonitrile anion affords two diastereom eric products, which yield alpha-phenyl-alpha-[2-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]ac etonitrile upon decomplexation. The SNAr intrinsic rate constant was evalua ted and the activation of the tricarbonylchromium moiety was compared with that of the nitro group.
