The solid solutions NiTi1-xMnxSb and CoV1-xMnxSb between metallic compounds
are studied. For low Mn concentrations, Mn 3d states are localized as show
n by magnetic measurements and electronic structure calculations. Magnetic
interactions suddenly and strongly increase near x = 0.4, while a semicondu
cting like behavior is observed in the range x=0.35-0.45. These features ar
e tentatively explained by the Anderson localization of d states in these d
isordered solutions. Large magnetoresistance effects are observed in some p
hases near their magnetic ordering temperature. [S0163-1829(99)03225-7].
