Abstract
A semiclassical description of multiple giant resonance excitation that inc orporates incoherent fluctuation contributions of the Brink-Axel type is de veloped. Numerical calculations show that the incoherent contributions an i mportant at low to intermediate bombarding energies. [S0556-2813(99)01705-7 ].
