Exact solutions to the set of nonlinear two-fluid MHD equations describing
the physical problem of a steady current flow in a two-dimensional resistiv
e plasma-filled diode are obtained and investigated. Even though, in the co
urse of investigation, the class of solutions becomes more narrow, the fina
l solution is derived as an exact solution to the initial set of equations.
Such factors as the representation of the conductivity in a fairly general
form, the allowance for ponderomotive currents, and a sufficiently wide sc
ope of effects describable analytically make it feasible to reveal possible
important situations to which the approach developed might be implemented
practically.
