Abstract
The main features of two families of bone cements are presented: acrylic an d calcium phosphate based. Since their nature and properties are very diffe rent, also their applications differ. Whilst the main function of the acryl ic bone cements is mechanical, the role of calcium phosphate bone cements i s related to their bioactivity: to promote the bone tissue regeneration, ma king it possible their own substitution by newly formed bone.
