Giant magnetoimpedance phenomena is studied by means of inductance spectros
copy in the 5Hz-13MHz frequency range at a constant ac current amplitude of
0.8 mA. The different magnetization mechanisms of a ferromagnetic amorphou
s wire are resolved and it is found that domain wall bulging and wall dampi
ng, constitute the more important issues for the low frequency behavior of
GMI phenomena. At higher frequencies, domain wall movements are strongly da
mped owing to eddy current losses and spin rotation mechanism becomes predo
minant. An equivalent circuit approach is made to simulate the sample behav
ior as a function of frequency and the circuit elements are associated with
physical parameters of the sample.
