Abstract
Capillary electrochromatography (CEC) combines HPLC (High Performance Liqui d Chromatography) and HPCE (High Performance Capillary Electrophoresis), Th e paper deals with some questions that arise to the beginner or those who a re not experts in the technique, It is presented as a controversial debate between trained HPLC analyst and enthusiastic CEC user, It is summarized th at the analyst can monitor many parameters such as fluid velocity, gradient formation, etc., to achieve excellent separations. Very small particles ar e capable of providing high efficiencies, Monoliths are under development. However CEC is not yet a mature technique since some problems must be solve d such as frit manufacture, injection device and dedicated instrument.
