Zq. Li et al., EFFECT OF COMPACTION PRESSURE ON THE MICROSTRUCTURE OF MECHANICALLY ALLOYED AG37CU63 ALLOY, Philosophical magazine. A. Physics of condensed matter. Defects and mechanical properties, 72(6), 1995, pp. 1485-1493
A comparative study on mechanically alloyed Ag37Cu63 alloy was carried
out using TEM, XRD, DSC and fractography. The amorphous phase and sup
ersaturated solid solution with the initial composition in the 1 GPa s
pecimen transform into Cu-8 at.%Ag solid solution, Ag- and Cu-phases d
uring heating. A higher compaction pressure accelerates this transform
ation. Since some of the mechanical alloying granules are composed fro
m extremely small non-equilibrium grains, their melting point is about
150 degrees C, which gives a different explanation of the DSC profile
s.
