We propose an optical code division multiple-access (OCDMA) system that use
s in-fiber chirped moire gratings (CMG's) for encoding and decoding of broa
dband pulses. In reflection the wavelength-selective and dispersive nature
of CMG's can be used to implement wavelength-encoding/temporal-spreading OC
DMA. We give examples of codes designed around the constraints imposed by t
he encoding devices and present numerical simulations that demonstrate the
proposed concept. (C) 1999 Optical Society of America. OCIS codes: 060.2330
