Abstract
Hellgren and Lochmiller (1997, Journal of Mammalogy: 78:691-694) refin ed the calculations in Randolph et al. (1995, Journal of Mammalogy, 76 :1113-1126) to raise minimum protein requirements for Sigmodon hispidu s from 7.5 to 10.7%. This recomputed value strengthens our conclusion that reproduction in this species is limited by availability of protei n.
