Abstract
Reaction of [PtCl2(PMe2Ph)(2)] with [(PMe2Ph)(2)PtB10H12] generates [(PMe2P h)(2)-mu-eta(1)(Pt)-eta(1)-(Pt')-{PMe2(C6H4)}-closo-Pt2B10H9(PM2Ph)] in whi ch the phenyl group of a phosphine ligand on one platinum atom exhibits ort ho-cyclometallation to the second metal atom, whereas reaction of PPh3 with [(PMe2Ph)(2)PtB9H9Ru(pcym)] generates [(PMe2Ph)(2)-mu-eta(6)(Ru)-eta(1)(Pt )-(C6H5PPh2)-closo-PtRuB9,Hg] in which the phenyl group of a phosphine liga nd on the platinum atom exhibits tridentate eta(6) coordination to the seco nd metal atom.
