Abstract
A novel behavioral toxicity test using the ciliated protozoan Tetrahymena t hermophila is described. Tests using a control water (spring water) and two reference toxicant solutions (sodium chloride and guaiacol) yielded reprod ucible results, indicating that the method has potential as a reliable toxi city test for use in industrial effluent monitoring.
