Abstract
In the United States, cults with African origins are undergoing spectacular growth. Besides Santeria, which came along with Cubans in the 1960s and 19 70s, and Espiritismo from Puerto Rico, there is now the <<traditional Yorub a religion>> (Anago) and Orisha-Voodoo. The confrontation between various v ersions of African traditions as well as the political issues underlying th em is well suited to be played out on the Internet, where future changes in the world of Afro-American religions can rake shape. The new technology se ems to be an additional instrument in building a new community of believers .
