A new hexagonal intermetallic phase has been detected in a LaMg2Cu2 prepara
tion, which absorbs large quantities of hydrogen (similar to 2.4 wt.%). The
dissociation pressure of the hydride reaches nearly similar to 0.4 atmosph
ere at 170 degrees C. The hydrogen absorption/desorption properties have be
en determined by thermal analysis and pressure-composition isotherms. (C) 1
