Abstract
A morphological and osteological study on a large number of specimens, toge ther with zoogeographical data, indicate that the genus Bathyclarias, previ ously synonymized with the genus Dinotopterus, is a valid genus. It is reha bilitated in this paper. Bathyclarias is endemic to Lake Malawi, while Dino topterus is confined to Lake Tanganyika. (C) 1999 The Fisheries Society of the British Isles.
