Abstract
A case is reported of chronic atrial fibrillation resulting from long-stand ing rheumatic mitral stenosis complicated by a massively thrombosed left at rium. In this patient, restoration of sinus rhythm and atrial transport fun ction was performed using a Cox-maze III procedure with mitral valve replac ement.
