Abstract
We have grown epitaxial La2/3Sr1/3MnO3 thin films on LaAlO3 and SrTiO3 subs trates. We have found that substrate-induced strain anisotropy (neither ten sile nor compressive) is not strong enough to overcome shape anisotropy and thus the easy-magnetization axis lies always in the film plane. The role o f the substrate mismatch on the effects of annealing magnetoresistance has been addressed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
