This article addresses the proximal sensory neuropathies of the leg, concen
trating on those nerves that are purely sensory or have a predominately sen
sory onset. These include the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve the ilioingui
nal nerve, the genitofemoral, nerve, and the posterior femoral cutaneous ne
rve. The obturator and femoral nerves are also summarily mentioned with res
pect to their sensory symptoms.
