Abstract
To get more information concerning zeolite synthesis in the presence of 1-b utanol(n-BuOH), influences of the alkali metal cation and the synthesis con ditions on the zeolite synthesis were investigated. It was found that highl y crystalline TON(Theta-l), MER(Merlinoite) and LTL(L) type zeolites were s ynthesized when KOK was employed as an alkali source, whereas MFI(ZSM-5) an d MOR (Mordenite) type zeolites for NaOH. Characterization of zeolites obta ined was conducted using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, F T-IR, thermal analysis, C-13 and Al-27 MAS NMR. From the results of FT-IR a nd C-13 CP MAS NMR measurements of as-made zeolites, it was concluded that n-BuOH molecules were occluded in the zeolitic pores of TON and MFI type ze olites, while no n-BuOH molecules for MOR, MER and LTL type zeolites.
