Extended self-similarity and dissipation range dynamics of three-dimensional turbulence

We carry out a self-consistent calculation of the structure functions in th e dissipation range using the Navier-Stokes equation. Combining these resul ts with the known structures in the inertial range, we actually propose cro ssover functions for the structure functions that take one smoothly from th e inertial to the dissipation regime. These crossover functions are shown t o exhibit extended self-similarity properties consistent with experimental findings. [S1063-651X(99)12207-4].
