Abstract
The benefits from a water reduction program include a decrease in the mill' s solids losses, chemical use, thermal and electrical energy consumption an d demands on the effluent treatment system. Water consumption reductions wi ll induce an increase in the paper machine whitewater temperature, dissolve d solids and fines content to potentially compromise process stability. Pro cess concepts for reducing paper machine water consumption while maintainin g paper machine process stability are presented.
