Abstract
A system of two waveguides coupled laterally through small windows is consi dered. The asymptotics (in the width of windows) of an eigenvalue close to the threshold are obtained. The cases of one and several coupling windows a re studied. The technique is that of matching the asymptotic expansions of the solutions.
