Technology for automating coke oven machines

Nippon Steel has developped the technology for automating the operation of all coke oven machines at Oita, Yawata and Kimitsu Works. The ratio of auto matic operation exceeds 90 % and for certain machines 93 %. The manpower re quirements of these coke-oven batteries have decreased considerably. The pr oblems arising from this new situation require further measures to be taken in the future and even higher ratios of automatic operation should be achi eved.
