Elm. Harano et al., Modernization of the sinter plant at CST, Brazil, featuring pallet width extension technology, REV METALL, 96(3), 1999, pp. 321-330
In 1994, CST decided to increase the total crude steel production from 3.5
to 4.5 million t/y. This required the construction of a second blast furnac
e and an increase of about 35 % of the sintering capacity A modernization a
nd extension of the existing sintering facility was considered as preferabl
e to the construction of a second sinter plant. This was carried out in a t
wo phase project the first of which being described hereafter This phase co
nsisted in extending the sinter pallet width and simultaneously upgrading m
ajor equipment units.
