Abstract
The REDSMELT(R) process is a simple and reliable technology for the product ion of hot metal with capacities, investment and operating cost that can su itably match with a minimill. It is based on the direct reduction of iron o re fines with coal in a rotary reduction furnace and the subsequent smeltin g of the prereduced iron in a submerged are furnace.
