We show that it is possible to transfer the exciton-exciton Coulomb correla
tion to photons, producing thus pairs of near-gap photons with a high degre
e of quantum entanglement. The photon pairs emerge from the spontaneous opt
ical decay of biexcitons into two polaritons. The pair intensity-correlatio
ns, calculated in the low density limit for a CuCl slab, exhibit quantum fe
atures which can be observed by coincidence detection. (C) 1999 Published b
