Abstract
A mild and general method of phase-transfer catalyzed O-alkylation of biolo gically promising tropolones with allyl, benzyl and heterocyclic primary ha lides was developed. This method was also applied successfully to various s ubstituted or ring-fused tropolones: hinokitiol, hydroxymethylhinokitiol an d trimethylpurpurogallin, and structurally-related maltol.
