A retrospective study of anaemia in dogs

For a retrospective study the patient data of all anaemic dogs that were st udied in the Department of Internal Medicine in the years 1991-1996 have be en evaluated. Packed cell volume, absolute reticulocyte count, reticulocyte index, Wintrobe-Indices, normoblast count, white blood cell count and plat elet count were evaluated. Haemorrhages, nephropathies, coagulopathies and haemolytic processes were overrepresented. For the assessment of the regene rative potential the absolute reticulocyte count and not the RPI seemed to be the best choice in the early phase of anemia.
