Abstract
We report hematological changes observed in natural cases of bovine trypano somosis due to Trypanosoma vivax in beef and dairy cattle from Bolivian wet lands and Pantanal, Brazil. The main hematologic changes produced by T. viv ax infections were anemia and severe leucopenia. The cattle presented macro cytic hypochromic anemia. The leukocyte changes were characterized by relat ive lymphocytosis and monocytosis and decrease in the neuthrophil counts. T he clinical signs were lachrymation, progressive weakness, marked weight lo ss, inappetence, diarrhea and abortions during the third trimester of pregn ancy. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
