ior is introduced as an emerging specialty. Major program parameters are ou
tlined and intervention techniques endorsed by contemporary models ape pres
ented. Recommendations are made for advancing family-based prevention in ke
y areas: targeting high-risk and adolescent populations, customizing interv
entions for individual families, working with multiple social systems, and
integrating knowledge from the fields of prevention and treatment.
